2026 Paris Session – Call for Papers

The 2026 CIGRE biennial Paris Session will be held August 23 – 28, 2026 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France.  The Technical Committee of the U.S. National Committee of CIGRE (CIGRE USNC) invites U.S. authors to prepare and submit their synopses of proposed papers for this 2026 Session to USNC Technical Committee Chair John D. McDonald (johndougmcd@gmail.com) by Monday, July 7, 2025.

Select the Study Committee and Preferential Subject for each synopsis using the 2026 CIGRE Paris Session Call For Papers. When writing your synopsis, make sure to use the 2026 CIGRE Paris Session Synopses Template. Carefully review the 2026 CIGRE Paris Session – Instructions for Synopsis before submitting your synopsis.

Please see the USNC Call For Papers Instructions. The U.S. authors are requested not to submit their proposed paper synopses to the CIGRE Paris office directly. The CIGRE Paris office will return such documents to the senders as the CIGRE Paris office has assigned each national committee the responsibility for the 2026 Session to review and recommend its national committee papers to the CIGRE Paris office for further review and acceptance. U.S. authors also must follow the “Call for Papers” schedule for the submittal and review of U.S. synopses and full papers, which is the same as the posted CIGRE Paris office schedule. The author of a U.S. paper (or main author, if there is more than one) must be a member of CIGRE USNC, either an Individual Member or a representative of a USNC Collective Member. The other co-authors of the paper need not be CIGRE USNC members.

There is no limit to the number of synopses the CIGRE USNC can submit for the 2026 Session. The USNC Technical Committee will review all synopses (abstracts) of proposed papers, as well as the full papers when available. The synopses and papers must meet the following criteria:

  • Be of the highest technical standard, not published elsewhere, and contribute to technical progress.
  • Address only one of the 2026 Session “Preferential Subjects” and clearly identify the one being addressed.
  • The Preferential Subjects are in the 2026 CIGRE Paris Session Call For Papers. The Preferential Subjects are also listed on the CIGRE web site in the Call for papers. (https://session.cigre.org/the-session/call-for-papers.html).
  • The synopsis of a proposed paper must be at least 500 words and no more than two pages long. Synopses of less than 500 words or longer than two pages are not acceptable. Synopses must be prepared using the 2026 CIGRE Paris Session Synopsis Template.
  • Synopses must reach the CIGRE USNC Technical Committee Chair John D. McDonald by July 7, 2025.  Synopses must be submitted electronically to johndougmcd@gmail.com. This deadline will be strictly enforced.
  • For accepted synopses, papers must be prepared in the CIGRE format and must not exceed twelve pages.
  • Papers accepted on the basis of synopses are subject to further review once full papers are submitted.
  • The schedule for submittal of paper synopses and full papers to the USNC for the 2026 CIGRE Paris Session is as follows.
Submittals to Technical Committee Chair of the CIGRE USNC
July 7, 2025 (Synopses due)
January 12, 2026 (Full papers due for final review)
  • Authors will be notified of synopses selection results based on synopsis review by October 20, 2025 by the CIGRE Paris Office. The main author of the paper will be required to sign a CIGRE copyright form (General Conditions Concerning CIGRE Copyright) that will be provided by the CIGRE Paris office.
